Myobrace

Myofunctional orthodontics offers an alternative to traditional orthodontic methods. These appliances can allow no-braces treatment with stable results which are less reliant on long term retention.

This treatment method works best in younger patients, ideally at age 7.

Myofunctional orthodontics is essentially early treatment which addresses the cause of developmental problems of the jaws and teeth, eg imbalance in growth of upper and lower jaws, and mouth breathing

Allergies can cause upper airway obstruction, leading to mouth breathing.  Over time, children whose mouth breathing goes untreated may suffer from abnormal facial and dental development, such as long, narrow faces and mouths, gummy smiles, gingivitis, and crooked teeth.

The poor sleeping habits that result from mouth breathing can adversely affect growth and academic performance leading to many children being misdiagnosed with attention deficit disorder (ADD) and hyperactivity.

In addition, mouth breathing can cause poor oxygen concentration in the bloodstream, which can cause high blood pressure, heart problems, sleep apnea, and other medical issues.

Myobrace therapy is designed to eliminate mouth breathing and promote normal development
